What an absolutely powerful and amazing thought! Imagine, regardless of our past failures- whether in relationships,  finances, health, dreams, etc. - there is always the hope of a happy ending. This inspirational thought nestles nicely inside the assurance that "With God, all things are possible."  Well, ALL things ARE possible with God!  Surely with the power of a loving God behind us, it really is never too late to live happily ever after!

"You can't want it more than they do!"

How many times have you uttered those words...and meant them? I've spoken them more times than I can recount and I honestly believed them...at the time. But today? Well, today I am having an ephiphany...a God-epiphany, for sure. I'm struck today, for the very first time, at the un-truth of this statement. Like all un-truths (which still equals a lie, right?) there is just enough of a gob-smack of truth in it that it sounds reasonable, caring, wise and even philosophical.

But let's take a God-moment to dissect it just a bit and look at it through the lens of God's love.

I'll use a person I know as an example. This is a person I love dearly, but someone who over time, grew weary of her life, and began to live as if she were intent on dying. Terrible choices. Terrible people. Hell on earth. Heroin and Meth became her best friends. The truth was, she DIDN'Tcare if she lived or died, although if given a choice at the time, death looked preferable to her.

However, she had a mother - a mother who DID care and wanted her to live. This mother realized of course that she wanted her daughter to live MORE than her daughter wanted to live...and given all the facts, she nevertheless set out on a rescue mission anyway!

See, that's the rub about this whole saying. We say it and believe it UNTIL it's OUR child, our husband, our beloved one who gives up on life...or, gulp, until it's US that despairs of living...and it's then that this statement becomes meaningless.

Isn't God's-wild-kind-of-love the most needed and applicable precisely at the point of time when others DON'T care about their lives? Isn't that exactly when we NEED to care MORE than they do? Isn't that when we need to want 'it' more than them?

I serve as Chaplain in a place where women have hidden traumatic lives within the blur of drugs and alcohol...prostitution and dangerous living. There are many women there, for various sundried reasons, who have absolutely no hope for a future. Who couldn't care less if they live or die. And today, for the first time, I realize that I NEED to want their recovery and their healing MORE than they do...until they begin to want it too! Afterall, I sure am grateful that Jesus WANTED my salvation MORE than I did before I knew Him.

(When in doubt as to HOW to help someone who doesnt want 'it', prayer is always the right option, the spot-on choice of action.)

The happy ending of the story above is that because this mother wanted 'it' MORE than the daughter, that the daughter became well again. But more than just well. This daughter of hers became healed. Saved. Restored.

This kind of God-love reminds us that With God All Things Are Possible...and precisely because of that, it is NEVER too late to live happily ever after!

This is the dream wedding dress of a friend of mine, Shannon. Is she engaged? No. Does she have a Mr. Right in her life right now? No. She just knows that 'happily ever after' is in her future. So, trusting God, she has begun the dreaming now.

What is your dream?

It's never too late...to toast to a goal accomplished. This is Jim and I recently celebrating the completion of my latest book, Mama Cary's Rattletrap. What goal do you need to finish?

It's never too late...to forgive and be set free. Hatred grows in volume over time, taking up more space, invading and infecting every part of the human heart. Today take the path of freedom given to us through Christ - forgive. Read Romans 12 and take heart. There is a way of escape from hatred.
