Cupcakes!
Little Bites of Truth
Cupcakes...Little Bites of Truth!
"What I love about cupcakes is their sweetness...and that they are just the right size!
Pop one in your mouth and savor it.
Truth is like that. We don't need a sheet cake of Truth to be delighted or full...
sometimes just a little bite is all we need
to get us through
the day!"
Our Amazing Parent, God
How can we not feel both loved and cared for when we have a God who pursues us, nurtures us, protects us, sustains us, disciples us, corrects us, reminds us, and walks with us, albeit sometimes closely and othertimes at a distance?
Yes, it is right that we would honor our earthly parents on Mother's and Father's Day, but how much more we should honor our Father in Heaven who makes Psalm 139 a personal lullably for all of us who have invited Him into our hearts.
Happy Mother's Day AND Father's Day, Almighty God!

Warrior or Worrier?
I recently thought about how closely these two words - warrior and worrier - resemble each other, but how in fact they are worlds apart!
Which word best describes you?
Are you a warrior, a person who in times of trouble prays and is confident that GOD will keep His promise and show up on time, in every circumstance, armed with His grace and mercy?
Or are you a worrier, confident that things will go from bad to worse? Are you the one who is absolutely sure that in every circumstance Mr. Murphy and his law of "if-anything-can-go-wrong-it-will" will show up, unpack and move in? A person who keeps themselves occupied in crisis with wringing their hands for comfort?
Hmmm...take some time to ponder the truth to this question. Are YOU a warrior or a worrier? If you fear (uh oh!) that you are the latter, then let this priceless treasure comfort your worried heart and bring you peace!
"God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble."
Psalm 46:1

Merry "Brick"mas!
This morning in my private time with God, I shared with Him that once again, in the holiest of all seasons, I find myself dissatisfied. Dissatisfied with the emptiness that is prevalent in this season when it should be the fullest of all seasons. Each year I always think that I will 'figure it out' and have the CHRISTmas that God desires. Believe me, I try to swim UPSTREAM against the worldly, empty, commercial form of Christmas the world 'celebrates'...and yet before I know it, I seem to be swimming in the same direction as all the other fish. Egads!
I sense that I am oftentimes disappointed with Christmas because we tend to take what is holy and make it ordinary. The million dollar question that haunts me is: How can I glorify God this Christmas season?
And then, as if in response, comes Kat Silverglate's letters!

"Throw a Brick" dare:
http://www.photosbykat.com/Shot-of-the-Day/223/solid-foundations
I hear GOD speak through her. My God, the answer is so clear! I need to hurl some bricks! THIS is what I'm looking for! Something...anything...that has REAL meaning!! Throwing a brick and giving GOD glory for it represents what our hungry-for-purpose souls are longing for! At least mine is.
Years ago, at this time of year, Jim and I used to host a gathering in our home where the focus was, "Thank You." We limited the gathering to about 4 people. Along with the festivities we had planned, Jim and I would specifically list the areas where these guests had selflessly served. In essence we got to 'give honor where honor is due'. See, those kind of gatherings are where we got to throw a few bricks and feel good about it!
Well, after reading Kat's letters, I'm off to throw a brick or two again. My right arm is aching to do something useful, edifying, eternal!
Merry CHRISTmas to all of you. Now, go throw some bricks, for God's sake, and have the merriest 'Brick'mas ever!

"So Big"
One of my dearest girlfriends, Kat Silverglate, coined the phrase, "So big!" for whenever we accomplish something that causes us to be stretched, both emotionally and spiritually. Kat stands on her tippy toes in a little girl kind of way and croons wth delight, "So big! Look, God...I'm growing so big!"
Perhaps this "So big!" growth spurt came because we finally were able to overlook an offense or overcome a negative habit pattern...to be sure, the events change, but suffice it to say that whatever it is, we find that our "So big!" episode moves us from where we are to where we need to be. And truthfully, that's a "big" that is no 'small' thing.
How's your "big" level?

"Give us the bread we need everyday."
Luke 11:3
Jesus our King has promised us daily bread. Problem is, we quite like having lots and lots of bread. Bread lying around, bread in abundant supply, bread faithfully waiting on us, just in case we need a nibble or our tummy rumbles. But instead, the King only promises us daily bread. No less, mind you...but also, no more.
But why?
Perhaps it lies in the profoundly simple answer that if He should give us too much we run the danger of falling in love with the world, forgetting to keep our hearts and eyes upon the faithful King and His coming Kingdom. Let's choose to remember the Manna that fell from the skies, soft as snowflakes upon the ground, as the Israelites traveled towards the Promised Land. The King provided only enough for each day. Only enough...and oddly enough, it was enough! The focus for them, and for us, is to keep trusting the King for today's and tomorrow's supply.

"Don't lose your grip on Love and Loyalty. Tie them around your neck; carve their initials on your heart. Earn a reputation for living well inGod's eyes and the eyes of the people." Proverbs 3:3
Sometimes just one little phrase can change the course of your day or even your life! That's what Truth does. It can come in a small package but it can deliver a great big wallop!
The proverbs from the Bible are perhaps the greatest source of cupcakes-sized bites of truth that go down sweet and sustain us throughout not only our day but our lives as well!
Have you had YOUR cupcake today?
